EMILIANO MARTINEZ has issued a grovelling apology to axed Arsenal boss Unai Emery on Twitter.
Gunners chiefs decided to wield the axe on Friday morning after last night’s humiliating 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
The result saw Arsenal make it seven successive games without a win, their longest run since 1992.
And Emery is now without a job after 18 months at the helm, with assistant boss Freddie Ljunberg stepping up as interim manager until a new gaffer is found.
Former player Patrick Vieira is a candidate to take charge at the club.
While Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo remains the bookies’ favourite.
Gunners players have remained quiet so far, with many believed to have grown unhappy with Emery’s training methods and tactics on the pitch.

However, back-up goalkeeper Martinez has broken rank to apologise to Emery.
The Argentine, 27, has been at Arsenal since 2010.
But he has never managed more than six appearances in an entire season.
That didn’t put off Emery though, who handed the shot-stopper his fourth game of the term in last night’s calamitous game against Frankfurt.
And Martinez went online to admit that Arsenal’s underperforming flops were to blame for Emery’s fate.
He wrote: “Thank you @UnaiEmery_ and Javi (Garcia, goalkeeping coach).
“I’m sorry we let you down, it’s our fault for not performing the right way.
“I’m sure we will meet again (heart emoji).”
