ARSENAL fans couldn’t help but crack a smile after the news broke that Jose Mourinho was Tottenham’s new boss.
But the smile was quickly wiped off their faces after a fellow Gooner pointed out just how strong The Special One’s record is against the Gunners.
Arsenal fans are unsure how to feel about Mourinho’s arrival at Spurs
Supporters from the red half of North London were left in stitches after Tottenham bizarrely axed Mauricio Pochettino in favour of Mourinho.
Poch, 47, had taken Spurs from mid-table mediocrity to a Champions League final in just five years.
Maybe just as importantly for their supporters, he regularly helped them finish above Arsenal in the league for the first time in recent memory.
Just 11 hours after Pochettino’s sacking, Mourinho was named new Spurs boss, with Gunners fans loving the appointment thanks to his struggles at Manchester United.
But the party didn’t last long, as one supporter pointed out the Special One has a fantastic record against Arsenal.
Mourinho has led his Chelsea and Man Utd teams down the years in 20 matches against Arsenal – winning ten of those.
In fact, the Portuguese chief has only picked up more wins against a single opponent with four other clubs.
Oddly enough, Tottenham are top of Mourinho’s kill-list with 13 wins from 22 matches against them.
Liverpool (12), Everton and West Ham (both 11) are the only other clubs above Arsenal on the list.
Now Arsenal fans don’t know how to feel, with supporters sharing a range of mixed emotions.
Taking to social media, one wrote: “Thank god. At least now Mourinho wont be linked with us.”
Another said: “Guys don’t be too excited. I think he’ll actually win trophies with that Spurs team.”
A third added: “Tottenham shouldn’t be able to attract a manager of Mourinho’s level. This is f***ing ridiculous.”
But one argued: “His ideas are outdated and hes toxic. I am so happy they’ve fobbed off one of the best young coaches in the game for a dinosaur.”
