Dillian Whyte set for ring return on Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz undercard after drug stint out

EDDIE HEARN revealed there is a “strong possibility” Dillian Whyte makes his return on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr.

Brixton banger Whyte has been out of action since his points win over Oscar Rivas in July, after an “adverse finding” was reported in his United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency test.

The 31-year-old was cleared to box by the British Board of Boxing Control, and despite the WBC taking away his mandatory status for Deontay Wilder, the Brit is NOT suspended.

And promoter Hearn told iFL TV Joshua’s rematch against unified champion Ruiz on December 7 in Saudi Arabia is the perfect place for Whyte to make his comeback.

He said: “It’s gone from a possibility, to a strong possibility.

“I’ve just sent him a list of opponents, actually, to look at and we’re seeing if we can make it happen.

“But there’s a very good chance that he’ll be on that card.

“It’s not going to be like a top 10, top 15 guy, but it’s going to be a credible opponent, I think it’s going to be a 10 rounder.

“It’s a good opportunity for him to get out, high-profile card, and just keep winning.”

Hearn is in need of a big name after the super-featherweight clash between Jono Carroll and Scott Quigg was cancelled after the latter pulled out with injury.

Whyte is still clear to box, with UKAD proceeding to investigate his case.

But the WBC replaced the Body Snatcher from their mandatory spot, with Tyson Fury instead slotting in as he rematches Wilder on February 22.

Whyte has been told The Bronze Bomber will not have to face until 2021.
