Anthony Joshua could be forced to vacate world title if he beats Andy Ruiz Jr in rematch, claims David Haye

DAVID HAYE believes the winner of the rematch between Andy Ruiz Jr and Anthony Joshua may be forced to vacate the WBO world title.

Joshua, 30, attempts to win back his unified heavyweight crowns against Ruiz, also 30, on December 7 in Saudi Arabia.

But after the title rematch, the winner will be given an IBF and WBO mandatory challenger, meaning they could be forced to choose one.

With Oleksandr Usyk the WBO mandatory, Haye expects the winner to keep their IBF belt and face Kubrat Pulev.

And after Derek Chisora knocked out David Price winning the WBO Inter-Continental belt on Saturday night, his manager Haye claims the British veteran could face Usyk next for the vacant world title.

He said: “Usyk, that’s an ideal situation.

“Whoever wins that title fight [between Ruiz and Joshua], whether they relinquish a belt or not, we don’t know.

“There’s speculation it’s going to happen. If it does happen, Derek is in a good position ranking wise, particularly after his performance here and after winning that WBO strap.”

Chisora only faced substitute Price after Joseph Parker pulled out of the fight due to illness from a spider bite.

But former two-weight champion Haye revealed Chisora could still end up facing ex-WBO champion Parker at a rescheduled date.

He added: “Parker is a great fighter, but we tried to get it for tonight and he got a spider bite.

“He’s in training, I would have loved that fight to happen. If we can reschedule that for another time, Derek would love that.”
