      Tottenham increasingly confident they will beat Southampton in free transfer race for England stopper Sam Johnstone

      TOTTENHAM are increasingly confident of winning the race for Sam Johnstone this summer.Johnstone, 29, is out of contract at West Brom at the end of the season.

      A number of clubs have been monitoring his situation, including Southampton.
      But Spurs have held a long-term interest in the England goalkeeper and there is optimism at the North London club that Johnstone will opt for them when his deal expires in July.
      Tottenham view the three-cap stopper as initial back-up to captain Hugo Lloris next term but with the potential to succeed the 35-year-old in the future.
      Pierluigi Gollini has deputised for Lloris on loan from Atalanta this season but is expected to return to Italy in the summer.

      ISMAILA SARR has received the all-clear to join Liverpool or Newcastle this summer.The £25million-rated Watford winger is a longtime target for Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp.

      Goater was a team-mate of Haaland snr for three years at City between 2000 and 2003 and believes the family link with the club is a strong one.
      But even more compelling will be the chance to play under manager Pep Guardiola – a manager whose teams traditionally score a lot of goals.

      Goater was speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes ahead of the launch of their 5-a-side bet on Manchester City v Liverpool.
      Madrid are not out of the running but the signs are Haaland will not just go to the club which offers the best financial package.

      Last month, reports suggested that Juventus are keen to make a move for the winger.
