Chelsea’s transfer plans up in smoke with Kounde set for surgery on long-term issue after being forced off for France

The Telegraph claims Toon chiefs have been left fuming after Lille’s last-second change of heart.
The two sides had been deep in negotiations over a £30m deal for Dutchman Botman, 22.
And the Magpies believe Lille’s cheeky price rise amounts to little more than a ’Newcastle tax’ due to their mega-money Saudi owners.
But Eddie Howe’s side will not be bullied into paying over the odds for Botman.

And Newcastle will now issue a ‘take it or leave it’ ultimatum, with the club ready to walk away if Lille demand more than the original £30m fee.
Should Newcastle walk away from a deal for Botman, it could open the door to an approach from either Manchester United or Tottenham.
The Premier League duo are both said to be keeping tabs on the situation as they hunt for new defenders.
AC Milan could also come back into the equation, having led the race for Botman before cooling their interest due to his price tag.

TOTTENHAM have agreed an initial £25million deal to sign Brighton star Yves Bissouma.Spurs boss Antonio Conte has beaten Arsenal to the punch after identifying Bissouma as a top summer target.

The Mali international is regarded as one of the best footballers playing outside the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’.
And after entering the final year of his contract, Bissouma is now set to join Spurs for £25m ahead of a medical this week.
But the figure will rise considerably once various add-ons are taken into account.
The 25-year-old joined Brighton from Lille for £17million in 2018.

Xavi and Pique were team-mates for a number of years during the club’s greatest ever period where they won three Champions Leagues in six years.
But that has not swayed the manager’s opinion of the Spanish centre-back’s current ability.
Barcelona owe Pique £34.3million in deferred payments but the club are hoping the player will leave in a dignified manner.

Pique’s former central defensive partner Carles Puyol left Barcelona in 2014 when he still had two years left on his contract.
And the LaLiga side are keen for Pique to amicably depart in a similar manner – with his current deal not expiring until 2024.
