Tottenham 0 Arsenal 3: Miedema nets wondergoal as Gunners trounce Spurs to keep heat on Man United

JOE MONTEMURRO hailed Vivianne Miedema for stealing the show in the North London derby with a glorious goal of the season contender. The Dutch dynamo’s volley was among the strikes that helped Arsenal crush Tottenham 3-0 to the heat on Manchester United.

Montemurro said: “We know Viv’s qualities and her goal doesn’t surprise me as she does it in training.
“We’re definitely finding a good rhythm, and finding joy in the way we’re playing.
“As for our win, we can only control what we can control. We can’t rely on other results
“I know it’s cliche but we just have to worry about, we’re doing and about keeping performances at this level.”
Unlike last season, a record-breaking 38,262 crowd was not have there to witness the second WSL derby at Spurs’ iconic Prem venue, but both sides were hoping to put on a show.
After a cagey start, it was Arsenal who came out all guns blazing as they bid for a return to the Champions League.
Montemurro’s side had a shot on target as early as the seventh minute with Katie McCabe’s half-volley off a Jordan Nobbs’ cross flying past Becky Spencer’s post.
And the visitors had a half-chance four minutes later with some nifty footwork from Miedema who saw her shot partially blocked by Spencer.
But the Gunners went ahead with Caitlin Foord burying their opener close to the half-hour mark.

And Jordan Nobbs forced two fabulous flying saves from Spencer including one off the back of a stunning curled effort in the 28th minute
Montemurro’s team doubled their lead seven minutes later with Miedema netting her 15th goal of the season.
And it was an exquisite effort with the Dutch ace volleying her shot home with venom.
The early stages of the second half began in a similar manner to the first with Arsenal pinning the hosts back in their own half.
And they registered a third goal with McCabe burying a low drive into the bottom corner in the 66th minute.
Despite enjoying the bulk of possession and shots on target, the Gunners suffered a couple of late second half scares.

And the hosts had a hat-trick of shots in the visitors’ penalty area in the 77th minute.
Kit Graham, Rachel Williams, and Angela Addison all came close to becoming the first Tottenham Women’s aces to score at the home of their Prem counterparts.
Spurs boss Rehanne Skinner said: “I was pleased with the way my players responded in the second half – we’ve just got to be able to do that on a more consistent basis.

“It was always going to be difficult against a top team like Arsenal at that stage.
“But from our side a goal would have given a bit more confidence and motivation and we might have then put a little bit more pressure on.”
The result sees Arsenal stay fourth and three points behind United – with a game in hand – ahead of their clash with Bristol.

Gareth Bale’s return to Real Madrid will cost them £13M in wages next season with club hoping for transfer buyer

GARETH BALE is set to cost Real Madrid £13MILLION in wages alone next season. The Welsh winger 31, confirmed he will return to Real Madrid next season after just a year in North London under Jose Mourinho.

He has failed to nail down a regular starting shot on his return to Tottenham, playing just 12 Premier League games.
And now, according to El Confidencial, the Spanish giants will have to suffer with paying Bale £13m – even if he sits on the bench.
He earns around £650,000-a-week at the Bernabeu – with Los Blancos desperate to ship him out on a permanent deal.
Bale admitted for the first time the plan is for him to return to the Spanish giants after Euro 2020 this summer.
When asked about his future plans, Bale said: “It’s no distraction for me coming into the Euros.
“The main reason I came to Spurs this year was I wanted to play football first and foremost.
“But coming into the Euros I wanted to be match fit.
“The original plan was only to do a season at Spurs, then after the Euros, I’ll still have a year left at Real Madrid and my plan is to go back.

“That’s as far as I’ve planned to be honest.”
But he has been warned of a potential ‘volatile’ reaction from Real Madrid on his return.
Former Real president Ramon Calderon says Los Blancos supporters will only back him if he recreates his early Bernabeu form.
He told TalkSPORT: “Fans are very volatile, it depends on his performances.
“If he’s going to play well and score goals like he did when he first came then fans will back him. But if he’s not then problems will come again.
“This club is very demanding, I remember with [Zinedine] Zidane they were booing him for the first five months because they thought we’ve paid a lot of money for a player that wasn’t playing as they expected.
“I’m sure fans will be backing him if he does things well.”

Hart might have put son Harlow through his footie training here
And while the 33-year-old is very much the understudy for first-choice Hugo Lloris, Hart has performed well when called upon in cup competitions.
The plush pad he is flogging in a tiny village on the outskirts of Manchester is sure to attract some interest.
Set over four floors with a gated entrance, the six-bedroom detached home has seven bathrooms and an immaculate open plan live-in kitchen.
But it is the home cinema, wine room and gym that will really grab the attention.
And if the buyer wants to keep a memory of the property being owned by an England international footballer, they can keep the mini football pitch in the back garden.
RightMove, who is listing the property, writes: “An immaculately presented, bespoke detached family home extending to approximately 9.500 sq ft and located in a desirable residential location.
“Arranged over four floors with fabulous basement leisure area, three main reception rooms, stylish open plan live-in kitchen, six double bedrooms and seven bath/shower rooms.

After being Manchester City’s undisputed No1 for so long, winning two Premier League titles along the way, he has since struggled to recapture his top form.
Hart endured tricky loan spells at Torino and West Ham before joining Burnley permanently.
He then became a free agent before being snapped up by Jose Mourinho at Spurs.
Hart married Kimberley Crew in 2015 in Florence, Italy. They have a son, Harlow, together.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho confirms Dele Alli is back in his plans after midfielder stars in Marine FA Cup thrashing

DELE ALLI looks to have played his way back into Jose Mourinho’s plans after a majestic display in the 5-0 FA Cup thrashing of Marine.
One comedy tumble aside, the 24-year-old midfielder was on fire in the first half as Spurs went in at the break 4-0 up.

Carlos Vinicius scored a hat-trick, with Lucas Moura adding the other with a sublime free-kick.
Alli, who has failed to even make the bench in a number of games this season, had the luxury of being rested when replaced by Gareth Bale on 65 minutes.
That was five minutes after 16-year-old Alfie Devine had put the Londoners 5-0 up.
Alli has been linked with a January transfer and a potential reunion with Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain.

But Mourinho doesn’t appear ready to ship out the 37-cap England international just yet.
When asked if Alli is in centention for a Premier League starting spot, the Special One replied: “He was here today and of course it was not the match to measure the quality.
“But the professionalism and attitude and I am very happy with it.
“I will not be surprised if next Wednesday Dele is playing with us.

“I am really happy with his attitude in the game. Of course we didn’t want to risk much, the pitch is a bit dangerous and their enthusiasm can put the creative ones in some risk.
“But I am happy – good professionalism, good dynamic from him and Gedson [Fernandes] to start trying to create, so really pleased for the performance.”
Spurs travel to take on Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Alli has played just 74 minutes of Premier League action this season.

And exclusively speaking to SunSport last month, White Hart lane legend Glenn Hoddle admitted the former MK Dons man might need to move on.
The Amazon Prime Video pundit said: “I could see Dele going to another club and doing really well in the right system. I don’t think he suits this system that Jose’s looking for.
“I think at some stage he will move on, when that will be I’m not sure”
