SHANNON BRIGGS volunteered to replace Roy Jones Jr and face Mike Tyson after declaring: ‘Tag me in champ’.

Tyson faces Jones in an eight-round exhibition in November

The pay-per-view spectacle was shifted from September to November, with Iron Mike continuing to share viral training videos online.
With the power and physical disadvantage, Jones admitted he could well have ‘made a mistake’ by agreeing to fight Tyson.
Briggs, 48, responded by putting his name into the hat to take his place.
He wrote on Instagram: “They say Champ having second thoughts.

“Tag me in Champ! I am from Brownsville too. Never ran, never will. Let’s go champ.”
Jones had threatened to walk away from fighting Tyson after the event was pushed back two month.
But the American great later agreed terms to remain involved.
And he has already started the kidology by insisting Tyson is the favourite going into the bout.

MIKE TYSON has been labelled a “wrecking ball” by Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone – after getting in his best shape for 30 years for his ring return.
Iron Mike will take on Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout on November 28 in California after losing SIX STONE.

Stallone, who famously played heavyweight world champion Rocky Balboa, is impressed with Tyson’s condition and physique.
The 74-year-old told TMZ Sports that Jones Jr needs to be “like Fred Astaire” and make sure he “keeps moving”.
He said: “You’re talking about, I mean – everyone knows it, Mike Tyson is a wrecking ball.
“Roy Jones is a great, great fighter, but it’s just a matter of physics.

“Well, let’s put it this way. What do you think is going to work? A 22 against a 45?”
Tyson was previously linked with a third fight with nemesis Evander Holyfield.

He has run a cannabis farm since 2016, raking in £500,000-a-month.
The former undisputed heavyweight world champion hit his lowest point in 2006 when he admitted to cocaine and alcohol binges, ballooning to 27 STONE.

This carried on until 2011 when he starred in The Hangover Part II.
But he got his life back together and is now set to make a killing with his ring return.

Mike Tyson given ‘cease and desist order’ by ex-wife Robin Givens over new biopic movie starring Jamie Foxx

MIKE TYSON’S ex-wife Robin Givens has appointed lawyers and claims she is being defamed ahead of the release of a biopic about the Baddest Man on the Planet.
Actor Jamie Foxx is set to play the controversial boxer in the film about his life.

But lawyers for Ms Givens have demanded Tyson “cease and desist” from contacting her.

The American actress also claims Iron Mike, 54, is defaming her in his podcasts.
Letters from her legal team “demand that Mr Tyson cease and desist from further defaming Ms. Givens, and to put those producing, writing and/or directing the proposed Tyson biopic, and those producing Mr Tyson’s podcast, on notice that they are to refrain from portraying Ms Givens in a false, negative and defamatory light.”
The letter further states: “While [she] has attempted to move on, she still finds herself fighting the abusive, demeaning and false accounts of their relationship by Mr Tyson nearly 35 years later.

“It is time for Mr Tyson to let this marriage be the relic of the past that it is.”
And she has already won a technical KO after producers revealed they would NOT be detailing Tyson’s messy marriage and subsequent divorce in the film.
Ms Givens was Tyson’s first wife.

They were married at the height of his fame in 1988 after he became the youngest ever undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

But it was allegedly a violent marriage which ended in divorce in 1989.
Ms Givens, 55, said to have previously dated Hollywood star Eddie Murphy and basketball legend Michael Jordan, started dating Tyson in 1987.
It was claimed that after her miscarriage in 1988 their marriage fell apart.
Tyson has previously claimed that he caught her in bed with Hollywood icon Brad Pitt as their divorce was still being finalised.
Ms Givens was awarded a $10million divorce settlement but claims she did not receive anything.
She filed a $125m claim for defamation against him before their divorce on Valentine’s Day in 1989.
Ms Givens has previously admitted to being “disturbed” by Tyson’s book detailing their tempestuous marriage.
She was left distressed after reading her ex-partner’s biography “Fire and Fear: The Inside Story of Mike Tyson” released the same year they split.

Johnny Nelson predicts outcome of Anthony Joshua clash with Tyson Fury as he reveals ‘both boxers want this fight’

The duo – who hold all four heavyweight world title belts between then – have agreed terms on a two-fight deal for 2021.

And AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed he is ready to send out a formal contract for the undisputed domestic dust-up.
But both men must first win in their next outing, with Joshua, 30, to face his IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev, while Fury, 32, pits his wits against Deontay Wilder for a third time.
Despite many believing that Fury is the No1 heavyweight on the planet, former WBO cruiserweight champion Nelson believes Joshua is the better all-round fighter.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the Sky Sports pundit said: “Fury might say that AJ is scared and running, but both fighters want this fight.

“Both fighters are fighting men and confident of getting the win – so let’s never get that confused.
“This is something they want. Once they get their commitments out of the way there’ll be no more excuses.”
Pressed on who wins, he added: “That’s the tricky one. I’ve gone public in saying I think Anthony Joshua is the all-round better fighter.
“I think Tyson Fury is better tactically and the more technically equipped, but AJ is the all-rounder.

Whyte’s shock Povetkin KO defeat is a ‘godsend’ as Joshua and Fury could be more encouraged to fight him, says Nelson

DILLIAN WHYTE’S shock knockout defeat against Alexander Povetkin could prove to be “a godsend”, Johnny Nelson has predicted.
Whyte, 32, had spent more than 1,000 days as the WBC’s No1 challenger before his mandatory status went up in smoke following his upset loss.

    5

Dillian Whyte was knocked out by Alexander Povetkin – but it could be a godsend, says Johnny Nelson

But his past frustrations having been unable to fight heavyweight rulers Tyson Fury, 32, and Anthony Joshua, 30, could now be over.
Former cruiserweight world champ Nelson believes the top heavyweights may now be more encouraged to fight Whyte.
He told talkSPORT: “I actually think it might be a good thing.
“Now, after being knocked out, other fighters will think that’s twice now at this level.

“That’s the same shot that he’s been knocked out with – I’ll have some of that.

    5

“So that vulnerability makes him more enticing. The same thing with Anthony Joshua after Andy Ruiz made him look more enticing.
“If and when Tyson Fury loses, once you see the blueprint to beating somebody, then it’s like ‘ahhh, there you go!’
“There’s no blueprint for Fury right now, but when somebody finds it, things will get interesting.

“But I think for Dillian Whyte, him losing might actually be a godsend because when he was winning and winning and winning, people thought ‘nah, I don’t want any of that.’”

Watch Tyson Fury show off slick skills as he reveals combination he plans to KO Deontay Wilder with in trilogy fight

In training for the fight, Fury revealed to fans that he is hard at work on “the slip”.
The combination featured in an Instagram clip posted by the Gypsy King, 32.
He captioned the video: “The slip, practice make perfect. We only humans.”
SugarHill Steward can be heard instructing Fury in the background after arriving in the UK earlier this month.

A former Detroit police officer, Steward was drafted in to help the heavyweight’s punching technique just two months before his dramatic rematch victory over Wilder.
Another clip of Fury hammering the bag with punches tagged the trainer, and was captioned: “We are working hard.”

    4

In the backdrop of the videos was Fury’s new mural of his February triumph over Wilder, installed earlier this month.

It was completed by Liverpool-based artist John Culshaw, with Fury thrilled with the result and sharing a short video on his Instagram story.
Fury commentated the clip, proudly boasting: “So I’ve got my mural done, in my gym, the Tyson Fury Foundation.
    “Boom! Have that Wilder! Haha.”
But the Brit has been warned to expect a seriously improved Wilder when they meet again.
Nigerian heavyweight Raphael Akpejiori, who is being mentored by the Bronze Bomber, told Sky Sports: “Based on what I know, the only person that can beat Deontay right now, is Deontay.

Roy Jones Jr admits ‘I made a mistake’ taking Mike Tyson fight aged 51 with boxing legend fearful of ‘explosive’ power

ROY JONES JR says he made a mistake agreeing to fight Mike Tyson.

With a combined age of 105, many have criticised the exhibition contest.
And even Jones, 51, is having second thoughts.
He told Sky Sports: “He’s still Mike Tyson, he’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring.
“If anything, I made a mistake going in with him. He’s the bigger guy, he’s the explosive guy.

“When it comes time to fight, we’re going to fight. If it comes down to bite, we’re going to bite.
“Whatever has to happen, is going to happen, that’s just what it is.”
Officially speaking, California State Commission rules state that both fighters will not look for the knockout in November, instead “exhibiting” their skills.
But there are fears the comeback fight could become a more feisty affair.

Jones added: “He’s going to have all the first-round fireworks, not me.
“I do have first-round fireworks, but he’s known for more first-round fireworks than anybody to ever touch boxing, other than maybe George Foreman.
“With him having the first-round fireworks, he’ll be against a guy smaller than him, maybe 40 to 50 pounds smaller than him.”
Danny Williams, who conquered an out-of-sorts Tyson, 54, back in 2004, fears the Brooklyn-born brawler will be keen to get physical and is worried about Jones.

Jones has showed he still has the skills required to succeed with his blistering pace on the pads in a video he posted to Instagram.

How Mike Tyson thinks he would far again today’s heavyweight stars Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder

WITH 44 KOs across 50 wins in his career, it’s fair to say Mike Tyson will forever be known as one of boxing’s greatest heavyweights ever.
Fans forever argue as to who would win in their prime: Iron Mike or Muhammad Ali.

Mike Tyson has revealed how he thinks he would fare against AJ, Wilder and Fury

But Tyson, 54 – who is making a comeback to face Roy Jones Jr in an exhibtion bout – has also had his say on how he’d fare against some of the current best in the heavyweight division.
From British stars Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, to the Bronze Bomber, Deontay Wilder, “The Baddest Man on the Planet” has revealed how each fight would go.
Check out what he makes of the hypothetical super-fights…
    MIKE TYSON vs TYSON FURY

Tyson reckons he’d have Fury’s number in the ring in his prime
BACK to his dangerous best, 6ft 9in Fury most recently beat Wilder in Las Vegas to clinch the WBC and The Ring magazine belts.

But Tyson has been a fan of Fury’s since before his win – having watched the controversial draw in his first fight with Wilder.
Tyson claimed: “In the first fight I was hoping for Tyson Fury, I always pulled for him because he was named after me, that is the natural thing to do, right?
“He amazed a lot of people by getting up. He showed he is tough, he got up and won the final round.
“I thought it was over, then he got up and it was like Rocky, he then fought back.

“It was amazing, it made me a fan. It takes great fortitude and belief.”
But, as with AJ, Tyson revealed he’d beat his namesake if he was in his prime – while admitting it would have been tough.
The American said: “Listen, if you’re asking me if I was 20 years old, then yes, there’s no doubt.
“They’re really good fighters and I respect all these skills. It would have been very tough fighting them.”

    MIKE TYSON vs ANTHONY JOSHUA

Mike Tyson reckons he’d beat Joshua in his prime, but admitted he’s a ‘beautiful’ boxer
THE current WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO champion, AJ bounced back from his shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr last summer to regain his belts in December.
Joshua is a fighter with many strengths and very few weaknesses – and Iron Mike knows it.
Earlier this year, Tyson revealed: “Hey, I really like him. You know what he is? He’s really a breath of fresh air.
“He’s really clean, he really looks clean, he’s a clean guy, he’s a clean fighter, he’s a good puncher.
“You just wish the best for him.
“I don’t know. My ego says, ‘nobody would beat you’ – but you look at him and… he just looks beautiful.
“He just looks like a fighter, you know? He looks like he was born to do what he has to do. He needs more experience of course, but that will come in life.”
Despite remaining fairly tight-lipped on that occasion – while speaking on his Hotboxin’ podcast – Tyson had previously claimed he would easily beat Joshua.
When asked if he’d beat AJ or Fury, Tyson replied: “Yes. Listen, if you’re asking me if I was 20 years old, then yes, there’s no doubt.
“They’re really good fighters and I respect all these skills. It would have been very tough fighting them.”

    MIKE TYSON vs DEONTAY WILDER

Tyson has no doubts in his mind he’d beat Wilder in his prime
WILDER slumped to a seventh-round defeat in his last fight – at the hands of Fury – to lose his WBC and The Ring magazine belts.
But despite that, the Bronze Bomber recently claimed his hard-hitting style would see him beat Tyson.
Wilder claimed: “Me vs. Tyson in ’86, I’d kick the hell outta that guy.
“Listen, I’ve got to keep it real. I know people always go back to the old school or look at the new school and there’s no school where I’m not No1 on earth.”
Replying to those comments before his recent defeat by Fury, Tyson was typically diplomatic, saying: “I don’t know [whether I’d beat him].
“I love the fact that he thinks that, because that’s the way I would think as well.
“He’s supposed to think that way, he is the heavyweight champion of the world and that’s something very special.”

But Tyson’s former trainer, Jeff Fenech, was in no doubt as to who would win…
Fenech said: “Boxing’s not the same now. I’d guarantee that if Mike Tyson trained for six weeks, he’d knock Wilder out in a minute.
“He would hit them. If these guys are getting knocked out by Tyson Fury – who’s a great fighter, but not a huge puncher – Tyson would kill these guys.
“They’re not on the same level today. Mike today, I reckon if he trained he could still beat these guys.
“Fury’s got these other skills, but Deontay Wilder’s got a punch and nothing else. If you punch him, it’s over.
    “And Mike don’t miss.”
