Tyson Fury comeback next month looks to be OFF as WBC champion announces ‘Gypsy King is returning in 2021’

TYSON FURY’S comeback next month looks to be OFF as the WBC champion announced: ‘Gypsy King is returning in 2021’.
Fury was in line to make his homecoming on December 5 having walked away from his trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder.

The Gypsy King is returning in 2021. Only those that have supported me 100% since my comeback will be with me for the glory.
    — TYSON FURY (@Tyson_Fury) November 15, 2020

But it appears his return to the ring will be pushed back into the New Year.
Fury, 32, tweeted: “The Gypsy King is returning in 2021.
“Only those that have supported me 100% since my comeback will be with me for the glory.”
Fury cancelled a third fight with Wilder after their immediate rematch clause expired last month.

But in a desperate attempt to salvage his crack at redemption, Wilder initiated a mediation with a retired judge set to review his case.
Promoter Frank Warren said the outcome of the dispute should be resolved by next week which looks to have caused a delay in Fury’s next fight.
Fury, 32, convincingly dethroned Wilder, 35, of the WBC title in February, having first drawn with each other in 2018.
They were contracted to a rematch straight after as part of the deal they initially signed.

But as the coronavirus pandemic kept fans away, it did the same for Wilder’s shot at revenge.
As a result, once the stipulation expired, Fury moved on from the trilogy to instead focus on facing Anthony Joshua, 31, twice next year.
He was in line to fight on December 5, with Agit Kabayel, 28, his chosen opponent as a tune up bout.
But the matchup remains up in the air following Fury’s latest announcement on Twitter.
If Wilder is successful in his case, he could force through a crack at redemption.
Warren posted: “The world’s best heavyweight, The Gypsy King @Tyson_Fury will return to action in 2021.
“Date and venue to be announced.”

Tyson Fury’s undisputed clash against Anthony Joshua to take place in May or June, confirms Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn

EDDIE HEARN has confirmed talks are underway over an undisputed title fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury next year.
Between them, Joshua and Fury hold all four heavyweight belts and earlier this year agreed to an even share of the purse to finally meet in the ring in 2021.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could meet in May or June of next year

Matchroom Boxing boss Hearn has hinted that while a date for the unification fight is close to being agreed, the two Brits’ showdown may be held outside of the UK.
Hearn wrote in a column for The Sunday Times: “Everyone wants to see Joshua fight Tyson Fury for the undisputed heavyweight title.
“We are looking at May, June [2021].
“Where will it be? The main problem is lots of countries have substantial budgets from their governments to bring in major sports events. We don’t.

“Ultimately, if you sit down with a fighter and say there’s £30million in England or £60m in the Middle East, it’s a very short conversation.”
However, before Joshua and Fury can turn their attention to an undisputed title fight, both have title defences to contend with.
After walking away from a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, Fury will reportedly defend his WBC crown against Agit Kabayel on December 5.
Joshua meanwhile, will defend his belts against Kubrat Pulev a week later.

Hearn discussed Joshua’s preparation for Pulev, as well as Fury’s dispute with Wilder during a chat with Sky Sports last week.
Hearn said: “We try and avoid the mess, and keep discipline and focus on what we’re doing.
“The path for AJ has always been clear, with the ups and downs of the Ruiz fight, and getting that rematch over the line.
“But we know what we’re doing. December 12, it was announced probably eight weeks before the fight, we’re focused on the victory.
“That’s their [Fury and Wilder’s] business, it’s a right mess either way, and it’s not going to resolve itself any time soon.
“Hopefully we can just make sure that if Anthony Joshua can beat Kubrat Pulev on December 12, then the path is clear for AJ against Fury in 2021.”

Last month, the 28-year-old’s planned fight with Christian Hammer was postponed due to the Romanian testing positive for coronavirus.
American fighter Christopher Lovejoy was eyed for the event, on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk’s win over Dereck Chisora.
But a contract issue meant the fight was cancelled at the last minute.
And, on Sunday, Allen announced his decision to retire from boxing.

He wrote on Instagram: “Hello everyone, I hoped I would never have to write this message, never mind at 28 with my last fight being when I was 27 years old.
“But I made the decision a few nights ago with my sister that I would no longer from that moment on be a professional fighter, boxing has given me a life I could never of dreamed of.

All I want now is a nice quiet life with a wife and some kids, healthy and happy getting nice and fat.
    Dave Allen

“I had never been out of Doncaster but for school trips till I started boxing and it’s taken me round the world from New York City to working men’s club all around the UK, as well as seeing the world.
“It has taken me from the kid brought up in a council house with yellow doors wearing Umbro to a man who still wears Umbro but owns a few houses and who has given myself a chance to give my future kids a life I could only have dreamed of.

“On top of and more importantly I have made the greatest friends, some of them being my childhood heroes, the list of thanks would be far to long but I hope everyone knows who they are and know they are appreciated.
“Lastly the reason for me calling it a day is simple, I don’t want to get punched anymore.
“Long gone are the days of the kid from Donny who just wants to fight, all I want now is a nice quiet life with a wife and some kids, healthy and happy getting nice and fat.”
Allen went unbeaten in his first ten professional fights before defeats to Dillian Whyte and Luis Ortiz.

A Commonwealth title fight with Lenroy Thomas in 2017 saw him suffer a third loss but a string of victories, including over New Zealander Lucas Browne, elevated him back up the rankings.
David Price inflicted the White Rhino a painful defeat in July 2019.
Allen was taken to hospital after the ten-round defeat and even hinted at retirement.
Earlier this year, he bounced back to cruise past journeyman Darch in what would be his final fight.

NRL star Russell Wilson had a chat with Tyson ahead of his comeback fight

Tyson will face Roy Jones Jr, 51, in an eight-round exhibition bout next weekend.
The Baddest Man on the Planet’s first fight in 15 years will be a bumper pay-per-view spectacle at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
But the scrap will NOT be for the WBC Front Line Battle Belt.
And Tyson was talking about dusting off his gloves with Wilson on his YouTube series ‘Danger Talk’.

Wilson asked Tyson: “So, tell me about these next two weeks, you ready to roll? You fired up? You gonna look like old Mike Tyson”
To which the fighting legend replied ‘Yeah man’ while tensing his bulging biceps.
Tyson added: “Look at this! Come on, man. Look at this. Come on, brother.
“I’m The Rock, I’m the Hulkster baby! I’m beautiful baby!”

But Tyson’s old rival Evander Holyfield has claimed he will gas out in his fight with Jones Jr.
Holyfield, 54, is back in training himself and fears that Tyson will NEVER grant him a trilogy fight after he twice beat him in the 1990s.
Tyson’s comeback has been slammed as ‘sad’ by Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren who claimed the veteran fighters were ‘doing it for the money’.

Terri Harper stuns Katharina Thanderz with ninth-round KO to retain WBC super-featherweight crown

TERRI HARPER retained her WBC super-featherweight crown with a belting ninth-round stoppage win over Katharina Thanderz.
The ex-chip shop girl chopped away at the undefeated Norwegian challenger and crippled her at the end with a soul-snatching body shot and a ruthless final flurry.

Terri Harper stopped Katharina Thanderz in the ninth round

The recent birthday girl said: “That has made my year. I knew it would be a tough night and I hurt my back hand in the fourth round so I just jabbed and moved.
“I felt more mature and maybe it was because it was my 24th birthday just last week!”
Thanderz was stunned when an accidental head clash bloodied her nose and, despite being given a breather, the Spain-based 32-year-old never recovered.
Harper piled on the pressure until referee Victor Loughlin rightly stepped in to stop the onslaught.

The win takes the Denaby ace to 11-0-1 and sets her on course for unification fights in 2021.
Harper made the perfect start to her defence, ramming a handful of accurate and punishing one-twos through Thanderz’s guard and into her face.
Thanderz had taken a serious leap up in class by challenging the Yorkshire lass and the gulf in ability looked obvious early on.
Almost every straight shot Harper threw thudded into Thanderz’s skull and her fresh face was soon showing signs of abuse.

Harper retained her WBC super-featherweight crown by beating Thanderz

Thanderz tagged the Brit with a right hand as soon as the third started but it was a blip and she regained control very quickly.
The challenger was bold enough to snatch the centre of the ring in the fifth but Harper punished her with more accurate digs to the face.
Thanderz chased shadows in the middle rounds, Harper’s jab was carrying her toward a clear points win.
The underdog kept it interesting with a seventh-round body shot but Harper was dominating the final few rounds on the backfoot.
Thanderz needed a breather in the ninth when her nose was cracked by a rogue Harper headbutt and the Englishwoman whacked her in the gut when the action resumed.
The punch saw Thanderz crease up winded, almost taking a knee, and referee Loughlin then stepped in.

Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr: UK start time, date, TV channel, live stream, undercard and rules

BOXING icons Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr will go head-to-head in a spectacular exhibition fight.
The 54-year-old Tyson will face Jones, 51, in a long-awaited bout, with the Baddest Man on the Planet dropping an incredible SIX stone to get in shape.

How Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr match up

The California State Commission say the exhibition bout will be fought under the rules that both men will not look for the knock-out and will instead “exhibit” their skills, but both fighters have come out and said the contrary.
When is Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr?
The big fight is now set for Thanksgiving Weekend – Saturday, November 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
It was originally set to take place on September 12 but the event has been postponed until later in the year.
The undercard is expected to start at 9pm ET which is 1am GMT and the main event will follow between 4am and 5am GMT.
The legends are set to eight rounds in the ring, with Youtube star Jake Paul and NBA star Nate Robinson confirmed for the undercard.

What live stream and TV channel is Tyson vs Jones Jr on?
BT Sport Box Office will be broadcasting the fight in the UK.
Coverage begins at 8pm ET, which is midnight in UK. The undercard is set to start from 1am GMT.
The social media site Triller will also be airing the PPV fight.
Emmy-winner Mario Lopez hosts the show, and musical acts will be announced for performances too.
Who is on the Tyson vs Jones Jr undercard?
YouTuber Jake Paul leads the way on the four-fight card when he takes on ex-NBA star Nate Robinson.
Elsewhere KSI’s trainer Viddal Riley is also in action as is former super-middleweight champion Badou Jack.

    Badou Jack vs Blake McKernan
    Jake Paul vs Nate Robinson
    Viddal Riley vs Rashad Coulter

What are the rules of the fight?
The fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds.

No headguards will be worn but the fighters will be wearing larger 12-ounce gloves.
Technically the fight can only be stopped if there is a knock-out, but California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Forster said he will stop it as soon as a cut appears.
Forster said: “Tyson and Jones Jr. won’t be wearing headgear for the fight. They’ll be lacing up 12-ounce gloves and there won’t be any judges present at the fight to score the action. So, technically, there won’t be a winner unless a knockout somehow occurs, or either fighter is deemed unfit to continue.
“They can move around and make some money, but I told them if you get cut, it’s over.”

Roy Jones Jr, 51, last fought only two years ago
    What have they said?
Mike Tyson: “We’re throwing punches at each other. This is going to be my definition of fun … broken eye sockets, broken jaw, broken rib. That’s fun to me.”
Roy Jones Jr: “He’s still Mike Tyson, he’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring. If anything, I made a mistake going in with him. He’s the bigger guy, he’s the explosive guy. He’s going to have all the first-round fireworks, not me. I do have first-round fireworks, but he’s known for more first-round fireworks than anybody to ever touch boxing, other than maybe George Foreman.” More

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder trilogy decision expected next week, Frank Warren reveals after mediation attempts

A DECISION on Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder’s trilogy is expected next week, Frank Warren revealed after mediation attempts.
Fury decided to walk away from a third fight with his rival after their immediate rematch clause expired last month.

But in a desperate attempt to salvage his crack at redemption, Wilder initiated a mediation with a retired judge set to review his case.
Fury’s promoter Warren said the outcome of the dispute should be resolved by next week with the Gypsy King desperate to return to the ring.
He told BT Sport Boxing: “I think there will be next week as to what’s going on. Next week, we’ll know what the position is.
“He’s been training very, very hard, and he just wants to get back in the ring, and we’re trying hard to make that happen.”

Fury, 32, convincingly dethroned Wilder, 35, of the WBC title in February, having firstly drawn with each other in 2018.
They were contracted to a rematch straight after as part of the deal they initially signed.
But as the coronavirus pandemic kept fans away, it did the same for Wilder’s shot at revenge.

He is set to fight on December 5, with Agit Kabayel, 28, his chosen opponent as a tune up bout.
But an official announcement is being held up as Wilder looks to force through a rematch, despite an agreement failing to be reached throughout this year.
Warren said: “Unfortunately, because of the Covid and the finances for that particular fight, it wasn’t to be.
“We tried to make it again, and we tried to work on it, but it expired. I think it’s well known now that there’s a hearing going on.
“Something will be done in the States, and some decision will be made in the next week or so.”

Tyson Fury denies putting a ‘gypsy spell’ on Deontay Wilder but claimed he shook rival’s ‘self-confidence’ pre-fight

TYSON FURY has hit back at Deontay Wilder’s claims he put a ‘gyspy spell’ on the American in the first of their two blockbuster fights.
Wilder was stunned at how the Gypsy King defied two knockdowns in a thrilling draw, before the Brit dethroned him in a one-sided rematch.

Unbeaten world heavyweight champ Fury scoffed at suggestions he used magic in the opening bout – but believes he ‘shook’ Wilder’s self-confidence with his prediction of a second-round KO.
In his new book The Furious Method, Fury speaks out on the December 2018 draw where many thought he deserved to win.
The 32-year-old said: “When Joe Rogan interviewed Wilder on his podcast after our first fight, Wilder said he thought I’d put some kind of gypsy spell on him.

“As far as I know, I don’t possess much in the way of spells, though my Irish grandmother was a fortune teller.

“What’s clear is that I had got into his head and shook his self-confidence by repeatedly telling him I was going to drop him in the second round.
“I planted that seed in his mind and uttered it so frequently in the run-up to the fight he got spooked and started believing it himself.”

Wilder has also come up with bizarre excuses for his seven-round humiliation in the second fight with Fury.
Top of the loopy list are a heavy ring-walk outfit, an egg-shaped object allegedly in Fury’s gloves and spiked drinking water.

But Wilder’s new theory over the opening bout KO’s even his ridiculous re-match reasoning.
