Another clip shows the crocodile being shot dead in the water before locals carry its victim’s body to the riverbank.
Jesus Alberto Lopez Ortiz, nicknamed “Chucho”, was killed by the reptile on Saturday, it has been revealed.
The 29-year-old footballer was attacked by the crocodile while cooling off in the river in Rio Cañas in Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica.
Locals followed the reptile in a canoe – but a statement by local police said it was their officers who killed the crocodile.

Lopez was a footballer for amateur side Deportivo Río Cañas, as well as a dad to two children aged eight and three.
His distraught family have now appealed to the public to help pay for the player’s funeral costs, while his team manager Luis Carlos Montes is also organising a collection.
The player’s club paid tribute, saying: “With deep sorrow we make public the death of our player Jesús López Ortiz that God enjoys.
“Rest in peace, Chucho – we join the pain of all his family.

One supporter’s comment in response on Facebook said: “Always with his humility that characterised him, last night he delighted us with his last game.
“We will miss you, Chucho – the ball always at 10.”
Costa Rica’s ministry of environment and energy bans hunting or killing protected animals including crocodiles.
But local police decided they had permission under the central American country’s wildlife laws “to free the body from the jaws of the reptile” and shoot the crocodile dead.
In a statement, they said: “It should be clarified that all efforts were made to rescue the body of the deceased person without causing damage to the reptile, which was not possible.”
Last November a 12ft crocodile tore off the head of an eight-year-old boy Julio Otero Fernández in Costa Rica while he was on a fishing trip with his horrified family.
Later that month a hunter tracked the suspected predator and shot it dead before fleeing the scene.
In Indonesia last July, a 14-year-old girl was killed by a crocodile while washing her clothes in the river.
That attack came a year and a half after another eight-year-old boy was mauled to death by a crocodile near his home in Malaysia.
And just last week, also in Malaysia, a missing farmer was found inside the belly of a huge 14ft crocodile.
An elderly man died when he was set upon by some 40 crocodiles after falling into their enclosure earlier this year in Cambodia.

Also in May, the remains of a missing fisherman were found inside two crocodiles in Australia.
And last year two tourists from the United States were attacked by a crocodile at a resort in Mexico when one went swimming in the ocean at night and the second came in to try helping him. More

Gbamin appears to be selling his Everton kit for a mere £300 on Facebook
The midfielder’s struggles led to two loan stints as he temporarily joined CSKA Moscow and Trabzonspor last season.
Despite having another year on his contract, the Ivory Coast international doesn’t appear likely to make Everton manager Sean Dyche’s plans for the upcoming season.
Now the 27-year-old appears to be selling his kit on social media.
The Ivorian reportedly shared a picture of Everton shirts, tracksuit tops and socks on Facebook Marketplace.

And it seems like the No6 is selling the lot for a mere £300.
Gbamin appeared to post the advert with the following caption: “Everton Football Club Clothes Bundle – Brand New and Match Worn Shirts £300.”
The versatile midfielder’s turbulent four-year stint at Merseyside got off on the wrong foot after his arrival from Germany.

That set-back ruled him out for the majority of the 2019-2020 season.
His luck didn’t improve as he then only mustered six appearances in the Premier League.
Everton are set for an important summer transfer window that will demand significant reinforcement.
The Toffees barely avoided relegation last season and took their survival struggle down to the wire as they didn’t seal safety until the final round of fixtures. More

Liege won the match 3-1 but the major talking point was the shocking scenes in the stands.
The atmosphere was electric as both sets of supporters cheered the entrance of the teams with pyrotechnic displays and tifos.
The game itself was interrupted for a few minutes due to smoke bombs being thrown onto the pitch.
But things took a turn for the worse when Charleroi supporters started throwing dead rats painted red in the direction of their Liege counter parts.

In a press release published by the Liege supporters group on Facebook, the behaviour of the Charleroi fans was slammed.
The statement read: “Supporters” from Charleroi threw dead rats in the direction of T2. We are not talking about one or two rats but easily about ten.
“We hope that the Pro League will act, that our club will file a complaint and that animal associations will get involved.
“You really are big s****. We already knew that but you’ve just confirmed it even more.”

In the week building up to the game Charleroi ultras had posted messages to their social media sites comparing the Liege supporters to rats.
One such post translated as : “After the floods, and even more since the acceleration of the tram works in Liège, the rats are out. The inhabitants of Liège who walk during the day or in the evening in the streets of the Cité Ardente have certainly noticed it.”
During the game Charleroi supporters were heard chanting “ In the mud, there are rats, they are everywhere the rats, they are the people of Liège.”
This isn’t the first time that Charleroi have been in trouble for their off the pitch behaviour.

Kickaround on council pitch was banned as players didn’t complete a risk assessment

A PARK kickaround among pals was cancelled by council killjoys — as the players had not completed a risk assessment. The middle-aged mates arranged a final five-a-side match on the multi-use pitch they had used for 15 years but is now due for demolition.
A football match in Lincolnshire has been cancelled by the council after the players refused to complete a risk assessment before the game
They promoted the event on Facebook and were stunned when a council spoilsport spotted the post and demanded they get public liability insurance and a do a risk assessment.
The match in Sutton-on-Sea, Lincs, was then banned when they refused.
One organiser told The Sun: “It was supposed to be a meet-up for people who’d played on the pitch — most of them are in their 50s and 60s now.
It was just a bit of fun — but the council got in touch and classed it as an organised event on council land.”

But after The Sun stepped in, East Lindsey District Council performed a swift Cruyff turn — saying there was a “misunderstanding regarding the size and nature of the event”.
The kickaround did go ahead on Friday, but numbers were low due to late notice of its reinstatement. More

Shocking abuse Ivan Toney got for goal vs Arsenal is further proof social media must tackle despicable drivel-scribblers

IVAN TONEY scores! And an hour or so later despicable drivel-scribblers of whom a fair number populate social media are busy sending the Brentford striker some very nasty messages indeed. This is par for the course for the 26-year-old who has clambered through eight clubs before landing at the Bees where he has scored 57 goals in 98 games.

He received abuse following the goalCredit: EPA
In a wholly respectful society his record would be nationally embraced and yet it isn’t. And why? Because he’s black — and racism is a disgusting social disease.
But hold on. This may be substantially true, although not entirely in football.
Harry Kane is not black and yet the Spurs striker headed a list of verbally abused players in England’s World Cup squad in Qatar. And that was before he missed the penalty against France.
After that his phone and laptop must have squealed for mercy.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
So these social abusers appear to enjoy three football targets most — a failing on the pitch, vengeance and black players.
Toney was guilty of scoring the goal that led to Brentford’s away draw against Premier League leaders Arsenal, possibly a turning point in the race for the title.
I can understand why Gunners fans were enraged at the eye-boggling VAR error in missing a clear offside that instantly led to Toney’s headed goal but, innocent chap Toney, was only doing his job.
For what might be called a late-starter, the Cobbler wasn’t really successful until a spell at Peterborough that led to him being sold to Brentford for £5million — rising to £10m.
    Most read in Football
Now he’s an England international. A story of try, try and try again, which should be admired and yet abuse continues to roll in.
A man from North Shields has already been charged with sending him a hate message in October.
Now Brentford are determined to chase down another keyboard crackpot, as they should.
It’s hard to believe that even at the group stage in Qatar, no fewer than 1,546 tweets of abuse were received by England’s team, 205 of them concerning race, gender or sexuality.
The little bit of good news was the number is drastically down on the 2020 Euros, where there was 3,000 alone in the hours that followed the three missed penalties in the final against Italy.
Twitter, Instagram and Facebook say they have introduced plans to delete the hate mail around football but their achievement rate is only one-star at best. It should be a five-star priority.
A new government Bill, if passed by April, is designed to protect kids but not really adults.
But every generation should be protected because some of the filth, curses and threats I am only too aware of have no place in any society.
These offences should be regarded as criminal aggravation and top footballers, their families too, are major victims.
Racial comments made among match-day crowds are not acceptable either although the two Erics, Dier and Cantona had a simple way of dealing with them.
    Read More on The Sun
So angered by remarks they jumped into the terraces to sort out offenders. Cantona actually aimed a kick at one of them — not wholly to be recommended.
Nevertheless, Kick it Out is a great anti-discrimination campaign and clubs should be admired for sticking with it. More
