The 28-year-old will join the dominant German champions on loan, however there will be an option to buy at the end of the season.

A permanent transfer could cost Bayern a hefty £61.5million.

But City are happy to let Cancelo leave after the player became disruptive.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who also claim that the player’s relationship with manager Guardiola has “progressively deteriorated after the World Cup”.

Cancelo has fallen out of favour at Man City this season with Pep tweaking his system.

The right-back, who can also play at left-back, held heated discussions with Guardiola, a Telegraph report claims.

He has started only three of the 10 fixtures since returning from international duty.

Nathan Ake has also proven reliable on the left side of the defence.

Youngster Sergio Gomez has made 12 appearances since joining from Anderlecht.

And left-footed centre-back Aymeric Laporte can also play at left-back if required.

The transfer could see Cancelo end the season with another league title but in Germany, having picked up league triumphs in Portugal, Italy and England.
