Chelsea target Jules Kounde admits transfer collapse ‘affected him’ but Seville defender has ‘dealt with it’

SEVILLA central defender Jules Kounde has discussed the failed move to Chelsea over the summer and how it affected the start of his season.

Kounde, 23, is currently on French international duty, taking part in the 8-0 demolition of Kazakhstan in Saturday’s World Cup Qualifier.

The Sevilla star defender spoke to French television channel, TF1.

He said: “Has my failed transfer to Chelsea this summer affected me? Yes, a little bit, but now it’s digested.”

The Sun reported the blocked transfer move to Chelsea in the summer, which angered Kounde, but he bounced back after his initial disappointment.

Sevilla sit in third place in La Liga and are equal on points with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Kounde has been a big part of Sevilla’s season, starting ten La Liga games and three Champions League games so far this season.

Kounde is one of the most promising defenders in La Liga and is also proficient if asked to play at right-back.

He is talented with the ball at his feet, agile and quick.

At 5’11”, the young international is neither particularly tall nor broad for a central defender. But despite his height, he is very good in an aerial battle.

Thomas Tuchel will be looking to add to an already talented defensive line up.

Chelsea have conceded only FOUR goals all Premier League season, less than any other side.

Manchester United are also interested in the French international, reports say.

Solksjaer could add Kounde to a leaky defence, as part of a back three with Maguire and Varane.
