Tottenham targeting Norwich ace Max Aarons and Southampton star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in summer transfer window

TOTTENHAM are lining up a swoop for Norwich defender Max Aarons, according to reports.

According to The Athletic, Jose Mourinho is keen on a move for the Canaries’ right-back as he looks to stamp his mark on the squad.

Aarons has impressed with his top-flight performances despite playing in Daniel Farke’s struggling side.

Norwich are rock bottom of the Premier League with relegation back to the Championship all but confirmed.

The 20-year-old has kept five clean sheets in 32 league appearances and appears to have shown enough promise to earn a move to stay in the Prem.

England Under-21 international Aarons has been a regular starter for Norwich and shown he is equally adept on the left-side of defence.

Mourinho is understood to have some reservations about 5ft 10in Aarons’ height but the Portuguese manager is still expected to give him a shot in North London.

Spurs right-back Serge Aurier is attracting interest from Europe with Monaco reportedly keen on taking him back to France and Aarons could be the ideal replacement.

Tottenham are also looking at Southampton’s wantaway former skipper Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The Danish midfielder was stripped of the Saints captaincy by boss Ralph Hasenhuttl last month after suggesting he wanted to play at a “higher level”.

And Spurs are set to renew interest in the 24-year-old after they were first linked with him in January.

The former Bayern Munich ace has one year left on his deal at St Mary’s and is one of Spurs’ main summer targets.

Southampton are understood to expect £35million for the player with Tottenham keen to negotiate them down and bag a bargain.
