Reece James has his worst game for Chelsea while Marcos Alonso had a nightmare before dramatic fightback at West Brom

CHELSEA produced a stunning comeback to claim a point at West Brom.

Frank Lampard’s men were dreadful in the first half at the Hawthorns as they went in at the break trailing by three.

But following a rocket from the boss, the Blues produced a stunning fight back following the restart.

Mason Mount got them back into it ten minutes in before Callum Hudson-Odoi added a second before Tammy Abraham grabbed a late equaliser.

Here’s how the Chelsea players fared against the Baggies, according to our very own Simon Phillips:

Willy Caballero – 6

After keeping Kepa on the bench once again, Caballero found himself being left exposed by a poor defensive display from Chelsea, conceding 3 goals inside 45 minutes.

There wasn’t a lot he could have done about any of the goals.

Reece James – 4

This was quite possibly the worst first 45 minutes James has had in a Chelsea shirt.

Not only was he non-existent defending, his usual good crossing was poor. He did improve marginally in the second half.

Andreas Christensen – 8

Christensen was perhaps one of the only Chelsea defenders who had a reasonable game.

Thiago Silva – 6

Awful error from the captain for the night to gift West Brom their second goal.

Apart from that, he stayed composed throughout the rest of the game until he was replaced by Olivier Giroud on 72 minutes.

Marcos Alonso – 1

Horrific first 45 minutes from Alonso, he made a terrible mistake to give West Brom the lead, and then he made a silly challenge to get booked.

Understandably he was taken off for Cesar Azpilicueta on half time.

Mateo Kovacic – 6

Tried his best to control the midfield but even his head dropped in the first half and was subbed off at half time for Callum Hudson-Odoi.

N’Golo Kante – 5

Kante didn’t have his best game at all.

Mason Mount – 8

Probably Chelsea’s brightest spark in the attacking third and scored a great goal to get Chelsea back into the game.

Kai Havertz – 8

Havertz was decent on the ball but didn’t really do much more with it when Chelsea were looking for him to create more in the first half.

Much better second half from him and a great assist for Hudson-Odoi’s goal.

Timo Werner – 6

Very quiet and isolated on the left hand side and had a pretty poor first half.

Improved like many in the second half but not enough.

Tammy Abraham – 6

A terrible first 45 minutes for Abraham, his touch was off and he failed to get involved in the game at all.

Just like the others, he was slightly better in the second half and got his reward with the late equaliser.

Cesar Azpilicueta (45 mins) – 7

Looked a lot more assured than Alonso ever will at left back.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (45 mins) – 7

Great goal from Hudson-Odoi after a lovely interchange with Havertz.

Olivier Giroud (72 mins) – 6

Thrown on as the Blues chased an equaliser and worked hard to help his team get it.
