Leeds loanee Ben White wanted by Liverpool in shock transfer but Brighton will demand £35m for defender

LIVERPOOL have shown a shock interest in Brighton defender Ben White who is on loan at Leeds, according to reports.

Football Insider report the Premier League champions will need to fork out more than £35million this summer to land their man.

The 22-year-old centre-back has shone with his performances at Elland Road since making the temporary move to Yorkshire in July.

He won the PFA Championship Player of the Month in August and has not looked back since, playing every single minute of the campaign to help Leeds reach the top of the pile.

Top-flight clubs Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Leicester City are all thought to be monitoring his progress closely.

Football Insider claim a source has told them Brighton have made it clear that any potential move will have to smash their transfer record into pieces.

Their current record stands at £8million, which Leicester paid to sign Leonardo Ulloa back in 2014.

The Seagulls are thought to be expecting up to five times that price for their star asset.

Despite only playing twice for Brighton, White looks set to fetch a hefty fee thanks to his outstanding loan form.

The ball-playing centre-back has impressed pundits and fans alike with his technical ability and no-nonsense tackling.

He has made 39 Championship appearances this season, registering two assists and picking up five yellow cards.

With Dejan Lovren potentially on his way out the door at Anfield, White could be the perfect man to take his spot in Jurgen Klopp’s squad as they look to defend their league crown next season.
