And earlier this month he ruptured his MCL playing for National League side Aldershot Town – who signed former Villa flop Ross McCormack this week.

His side will stump up the cash for an operation after Kinsella was injured against Ebbsfleet United.

And in order to pay his non-league team back for surgery and rehab costs, with finances tough amid the coronavirus pandemic, Kinsella started a GoFundMe page.

He is aiming to crowdfund £10,000 and old pal Grealish donated a fifth of the target in one lump sum.

At the time of writing the campaign had raised over £4,300.

In a message on his page, Kinsella wrote: “It has been a horrendous time for non league clubs and I would like to do as much as I can to help the club financially as they have done for me over the last 3 years!

“The donations would make a huge difference not only to the clubs finances but allowing me to see the best people to get this knee fixed once and for all.”

The reoccurrence of an MCL injury is set to keep Kinsella out for ‘another six months’ and extend his time on the sideline to a full year.

England international Grealish showed his charitable side with the gesture after fulfilling his dream of becoming a Three Lion earlier this month.

Dean Smith’s skipper came off the bench against Denmark having previously represented the Republic of Ireland up until Under-21 level.

He put to bed rumours of a move to Manchester United last week by signing a bumper new five-year deal to remain at his boyhood club.
