Klopp and his team had assembled at a hotel in an unknown location to watch the Blues hand them their first league championship in 30 years.

Videos and images of the party quickly went viral on social media as the players celebrated, with Klopp giving several emotional interviews to the likes of Sky Sports and BT Sport.

Shortly afterwards Scottish captain and Liverpool’s much-loved left-back Robertson was interviewed alongside James Milner.

He admitted a number of drinks had already been downed – and he joked his boss may be willing to give them extra time off to celebrate if they fed him a few more bevvies.

Robertson told BBC: “We’re trying to convince the boss to give us a few days off!

“Give him a couple more beers and we’ll get two days off!”

The 26-year-old added: “We won’t tell you the exact location but we are all in a hotel together as a team.

“We thought something hopefully special was going to happen and that’s how it turned out.”

Robertson also described how things got a little crazy when it became obvious the Reds were about to be crowned champs.

Kevin De Bruyne had equalised for City at Chelsea with Pep Guardiola’s side looking like they could go on to win, forcing Liverpool to put the champagne on ice.

But after Fernandinho was sent-off for a handball and Willian scored from the resulting penalty, there was no way back for City.

Robertson added: “We went a bit crazy but the place went a bit silent when [Kevin] De Bruyne bagged a worldie free-kick.

“Luckily Chelsea reacted off that.

“The place went wild [when Willian scored] and we could sit back and enjoy the last five minutes.”
