FORMULA ONE is back – but should it?

FIA and Liberty Media have come under fire for allowing the weekend to go ahead with Ferrari, new team AlphaTauri and tyre suppliers Pirelli coming from Italy where they are currently in lockdown.

Yet, the race is increasingly likely to be called off after McLaren pulled out of the Australian Grand Prix after one of their staff members tested positive.

When is the Australian F1 Grand Prix?

The first race of the season will take place on Sunday, March 15.

Lights out will be at 5.10am UK time – that is 4.10pm in Melbourne and 1.10am Eastern Time.

It will be held at the Albert Park Circuit.

Mercedes driver will have fond memories of this track, having ended a 21-race drought without a win to stand on the top podium last year.

What TV channel is it on and can I live stream it for FREE?

All the action from the practice, qualifying and the race will be shown live on Sky Sports F1.

Yet, Sunday’s race will also be shown on Sky One, a free channel for all Sky and Virgin Media customers.

Sky Sports F1 can be live streamed via the Sky Sports app, while Sky One will be available on Sky Go and Virgin TV Go.

Alternatively, you can purchase a Sky Sports Day Pass from NowTV for £9.99.

Or if you plan to catch all the races this season, get the F1 2020 Season Ticket, which allows you to watch all the races and other Sky Sports channels for nine months for £198 – that’s £22 a month.

In the US, you can catch the action all on ESPN+.

What is the race schedule?

All times are UK

  • Practice 1: Friday, March 13 (1am)
  • Practice 2: Friday, March 13 (5am)
  • Practice 3: Saturday, March 14 (3am)
  • Qualifying: Saturday, March 14 (6am)
