‘World class’ Otto Wallin targets showdowns with Anthony Joshua and DIllian Whyte after pushing Tyson Fury to the limit

OTTO WALLIN’S promoter has claimed the Swedish heavyweight is seeking fights against the likes of Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte.

Dmitriy Salita has stated that the 29-year-old proved his “world class” abilities in his bout against Tyson Fury in September where he took the Gypsy King 12 rounds.

Swedish heavyeight Otto Wallin is said to have Anthony Joshua in his sights

Though he was ultimately outclassed by Fury, Wallin inflicted a devastating cut on the unbeaten Brit that required 47 stitches.

Wallin was scheduled to face former WBA champion Lucas Browne in March, but he was forced to pull out after picking up a foot injury.

And once boxing is declared safe to return due to the coronavirus crisis, the, the 20-1 boxer – who displayed Covid-19 symptoms – is keen to once again test himself against an elite opponent.

However with Wallin not ranked in the top ten by any of the four major governing bodies – with his highest ranking at No 15 by the IBF – it is unlikely he will face his two key targets anytime soon.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Salita said: “Otto has finished his physical therapy for the injured foot and is returning back to boxing training.

“The plan is for Otto to get back into boxing shape and back to the gym once they open up in New York.

“This week he started doing some boxing training with his trainer Joey Gamache outside in the park.

“Otto has had a challenging several months with fracturing his foot and then overcoming Covid-19.

“The plan would be to have him back in the ring late summer.”

Before adding: “Otto has proved his world-class abilities in his last fight versus Tyson Fury, and in the near future can be ready for Joshua and Whyte.”

Wallin has history with AJ, having fought with him twice during their amateur days, with the WBA, WBO and IBF champ prevailing twice on points.
