Mike Tyson urged to make comeback aged 53 because he ‘looks great and still has it’, says UFC hero Chuck Liddell

FORMER UFC star Chuck Liddell has urged Mike Tyson to return to the ring aged 53 after being impressed by the boxing legend’s physique.

The former heavyweight world champion has claimed he wants to dust off the gloves and compete in exhibition bouts 15 years after hanging up his gloves.

Fans have been left in awe of the speed of Iron Mike who has posted clips of himself back in the gym training and displaying his iconic ferocity.

Tyson has been linked with a trilogy fight against former foe Evander Holyfield with the pair’s team believed to be in talks.

And Shannon Briggs has insisted he is in negotiations to face the Baddest Man On The Planet in a charity clash.

Despite some calling for Tyson not to step back inside the squared circle due to his age, Octagon legend Liddell has encouraged his compatriot to return.

The Ice Man – who won the UFC light heavyweight title in 2005 and defended it successfully four times – believes Tyson hasn’t lost any of skills.

Speaking to Submission Radio about his views on his possible comeback, he said: “Whatever he wants. He looked in great shape, he looks like he’s been working out.

“I mean, before he decided to announce something, he got ready.

“He still got it. If he wants to go out there and do some exhibition matches, it’ll be great.”

Liddell has experience of returning to fighting after a lengthy lay off after he made a comeback in 2018 at the age of 48 to face Tito Ortiz for a third time.

It was eight years since he last stepped back in the cage, and it showed as he was blasted away in the first round.

The former champ added: “I don’t know if I’m going to be issuing keys for making comebacks but he knows where he needs to be and how he needs to feel.

“Tyson’s been doing this for way too long.”
