David De Gea howler sees Watford take the lead against Man Utd with fans demanding Dean Henderson return from loan

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have demanded the return of Dean Henderson from Sheffield United after David De Gea’s howler gifted Watford a goal on Sunday.

The goalkeeper fluffed a shot by Ismaila Sarr to concede the opener at Vicarage Road this afternoon.

The Watford ace fired the ball into the ground after a set-piece, forcing it to bounce up at De Gea.

The Spaniard went to catch the ball but completely misjudged the situation.

And the ball flew threw his reaching hands to hit the back of the net.

De Gea looked like he wanted the ground to open up as Watford celebrated their goal.

And things got even worse for the Spaniard when Aaron Wan-Bissaka conceded a penalty moments later.

Troy Deeney stepped forward for the spot-kick.

And he smashed his effort past De Gea, who dived the opposite way.

The Spaniard wasn’t the only who fluffed his lines during the game, with Jesse Lingard missing an easy sitter in the first half.

But it was De Gea’s mistake which irritated United fans watching from home, with many taking to Twitter to express their dismay.

Red Devils youngster Dean Henderson is currently starring at Sheffield United and kept another clean sheet in yesterday’s win over Brighton.

Utd supporters believe he is good enough to replace De Gea between the sticks and have called on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to recall him in January.

One wrote: “It’s time for De Gea to move on. I like him but then it’s time. Dean Henderson awaits.”

Another said: “De Gea has had his day. Dean Henderson needs to replace him next season.”

One noted: “De Gea is done at the top level, get Dean Henderson back next season.”

Another quipped: “Massive chance for Dean Henderson to go be Man Utd’s No 1 next year. Cash in on De Gea and back youth.”

One added: “Butter fingers De Gea! Next year bring Henderson back and let there be good competition for that goalkeeper spot.”
