Angel Di Maria’s wife says he is acting like a ‘zombie’ as PSG doctor warns he is suffering from depression and insomnia


CONCERNS are reportedly being voiced over Angel Di Maria’s mental health during coronavirus lockdown.

The winger’s wife and a Paris Saint-Germain doctor have told the club that they fear he is suffering from insomnia and depression, according to Le Parisien.

The report, via GFFN, states that the player’s partner, Jorgelina Cardoso, is worried Di Maria has become a “zombie” due to irregular sleeping patterns.

A senior member of the Ligue 1 champions’ medical staff is said to also have concerns over the Argentine.

Reportedly behind his struggles is the complete cancellation of the football season in France until September, ending PSG’s campaign early.

The 32-year-old has been under lockdown with his family since mid-March.

After only a couple of weeks of the coronavirus pandemic, Di Maria and Cardoso appeared on Argentine television and opened up on their difficult time in isolation.

Speaking to Telefe, she stated: “He is not feeling right.

“I am with the girls all morning to do their schoolwork over the internet.

“I leave him with them for a bit in the afternoon.

“He can no longer bear it. But the only thing we can do is stay inside, so that it ends quickly.”

Di Maria last kicked a ball in anger almost three months ago and is unable to train properly until PSG can plan for the Champions League quarter-finals.

He admitted back in March: “We are isolated.

“We have been inside for 14 days, twelve since the president declared this quarantine.

“We only went out once to go to the supermarket. We try to stay at home so as not to catch it. We have very young daughters. The situation is frightening. This is completely crazy.”
